Rainey Papers contain a small collection of photographs and manuscript material relating to his “Asiatic Expedition” June 1918 to February 1919, consisting of autograph manuscript summary report, 41 pages, ink and pencil, with corrections and deletions; a revised typed draft, 14 pages; a 3 page manuscript expense report, 38 original prints (approx. 3 x 5 inches) of photographs taken on the trip, and a letter pertaining to the exchange in 1931 between a companion on the trip and another party. This account by an American traveler in eastern Russia comments almost exclusively upon the military situation at the time shortly after the Bolshevik Revolution.
