Edward T. Devine (1867-1946)
Papers, 1910–36, 3 ft. A founder of modern American social work. Helped establish American Red Cross program of national disaster relief. Manuscripts, correspondence, scrapbooks, journals, published works. In 1916 he was named special agent to the American embassy in Petrograd to arrange for relief of German war prisoners in Russia. Collection includes 13 personal journals, 8 of which record his experiences in Russia in 1916 and a return trip in 1923. Unpublished finding aid.
