Some of the material documents his dealings with the Soviet government and with Major General Kuzma Derevyanko when he (MacArthur) was occupation commander of Japan. The Soviet Union is also mentioned in the daily intelligence summaries submitted to the general by his intelligence staff during World War II and the Korean War.
