In addition to the personal papers of General Marshall, selected copies (microfilm and paper) of Marshall-related records in the National Archives have been made and deposited in the Marshall Library. Approximately 1 million pieces, 1901–51, are accessible through numerous subject headings in a comprehensive card index. Soviet-related records for the World War II years include the following: U.S. Army chief of staff; secretary of war; secretary of war safe file-Russia; War Plans Division; Operations Division; Adjutant General's office; SHAEF; minutes of Allied conferences; minutes of Joint Chiefs of Staff and Combined Chiefs of Staff; and White House records of Fleet Admiral William D. Leahy, 1942–49. Records documenting General Marshall's mission to China in 1946 are also available. State Department records, 1947–49, related to Russia include: records of Charles E. Bohlen; fortnightly survey of American opinion on international affairs; Policy Planning staff; and the secretary's weekly summary. Marshall-related records from the Department of Defense, 1950–51, have also been identified and copied as well as other important records such as papers of the National Security Council, 1947–53.
