Franklin Stewart Harris (1884-1960)
Papers, 1818–1960, 16 ft. Educator, author, and agricultural adviser. Contains diary, correspondence, notes, reports, photographs, press releases, and mementos, ca. 1 ft., covering a study mission to eastern Siberia in 1929 for the purpose of investigating the possibilities of establishing a Jewish colony in Biro-Bidjan. Dr. Harris, president of Brigham Young University, was asked to head the study commission by Benjamin Brown, a member of the National Executive Committee of the American Association for Jewish Colonization in the Soviet Union (ICQR).
