In the interest of scholarship, the authors feel it is useful to indicate that formerly this library held an important collection of Russian-related materials that have, for the indefinite future, reverted to private hands and remain for now inaccessible. These materials included correspondence of Alexander II and his mistress Princess Catherine Yuryevskaya, ca. 140 items; the diary of Alexander III for 1894; and 15 ALS of Prince Peter Alexievich Kropotkin. The ultimate disposition of these items has not at present been determined (they may or may not remain in this country) and absolutely no queries concerning them can be answered by the library.
