• Hilandar Slavic Manuscripts, 12th-20th c.

  Ca. 300,300 pp. on 150,150 frames of microfilm, covering ca. 800 complete manuscripts, 100 fragments, hundreds of lay and ecclesiastical edicts and charters, and a substantial number of icons, frescoes, and other religious art. Originals of the Hilandar manuscripts are located in the Hilandar Monastery Library on Mt. Athos in Greece; additional material added to this collection was filmed in such repositories as the Zograph Monastery, Iveron Monastery (Mt. Athos), National Library in Athens, Vatican Library (Rome), Rila Monastery in Bulgaria, Synodal Library, National Library, and Academy of Sciences Library (all in Sofia, Bulgaria). Primarily ecclesiastical and religious works. Of those in Church Slavonic, 322 are in Russian recension and 1 in Ukrainian. 13 other manuscripts are also in Russian. Among the edicts and charters are 9 from the 15th–16th c. issued by Ivan IV Vasilevich (Grozny), Fedor Ivanovich, Boris Godunov, Michael Fedorovich Romanov, and Alexei Mikhailovich Romanov. Professor Mateja Matejic and his associates photographed the materials in 1970–75. His detailed description, Hilandar Slavic Codices (OSU Slavic Papers No. 2; Columbus, 1976), includes a glossary, index of titles, and statistical data tables.
