• Peter Kaufmann (1800-1869)

  Papers, 1806–69, 4 ft. German immigrant to the U.S., 1820, and founder of the Teutonia community in eastern Columbiana County, Ohio. In 1823 he published a Latin ode to Peter the Great, Elogium Petri Magni, Russorum Imperatoris. Some of his papers may contain notes for this publication. • Temperance and Prohibition Papers

  417 rolls of microfilm, 1830–1933. Collection of records and papers for a number of organizations and individuals. Roll 25 of the World League Against Alcoholism Series contains information on the liquor problem in Russia. Roll 28 of the same series contains miscellaneous material, some of which pertains to Russia. Guide to the Microfilm Edition of Temperance and Prohibition Papers, ed. by Randall C. Jimerson, Francis X. Blouin, and Charles A. Isetts (Ann Arbor, 1977). The microfilm and the published guide were produced in cooperation with: Michigan Historical Collections (University of Michigan Libraries), Westerville (Ohio) Public Library, Woman's Christian Temperance Union (Evanston, Illinois), and others. • Thomas Clarkson (1760-1846)

  Holograph manuscript account of an interview, 23 September 1815, Clarkson had with Alexander I, during which they discussed the slavery issue. Clarkson was a Quaker.

• Walter Rumsey Marvin

  Papers, 1816-1977 [MSS 800]. 3.5 cubic feet. Former director of the Martha Kinney Cooper Ohioana Library, Marvin's papers contain correspondence, research files, publications, and a typewritten transcript of Marvin's Ph. D. dissertation concerning the growth and development of American railroads. Collection includes primary source material (letters and documents) used in his research. Miscellaneous items consist of a World War Ii war rations book, 1943; a Hungarian Fund bond, 1853; scrip from Worthington, Ohio, 1816; Russian money, 1913; and an invitation to a Washiqgton ball held at F. • Warren G. Harding (1865-1923)

  Papers, 1888–1923, 250 ft., 263 microfilm rolls. U.S. president, 1921–23. Russian-related items are in Boxes 565–71 (microfilm rolls 181–82). These include files for 1921–23 with material on the Russian economic situation, Russian relief (with letters from Herbert Hoover), and Meyer Bloomfield's trip to the USSR. Materials consist, in part, of extensive State Department correspondence (much of it from Charles E. Hughes), and of reports of the Purchasing Commission for Russia. The Warren G. Harding Papers: An Inventory to the Microfilm Edition, ed. by Andrea D. Lentz, Madalon M. Korodi, and Sara S. Fuller (Columbus, 1970) gives cross references to box numbers and microfilm rolls (NUCMC 75–1019). (Ms Coll. 345)
