Notes

YIVO, founded in 1925 as the Yiddish Scientific Institute in Vilna [Vilnius,VIlno], has been in New York since 1940. Its extensive archival holdings today represent a major resource for study of the Russian Empire and Soviet Union. Materials are arranged in record groups, ca. 650 at present. The listing that follows is in numerical order to conform to this arrangement. These collections are only a selection, by no means exhaustive, of Russian-related holdings at YIVO.
