Khronika Press (Valery Chalidze, editor-inchief) publishes materials about and from the human rights movement in the Soviet Union. Its archives contain primarily samizdat material—articles, complaints, and legal records. Some are originals, typed and handwritten, but a large number are carbon copies (the usual form of samizdat) and some are photocopies. Most of the holdings date from 1973–78, a few from earlier years. Most of these items are also held by the Arkhiv samizdata of Radio Liberty in Munich, the most comprehensive collection of samizdat materials in the world. Access to the archive is controlled by Mr. Chalidze. Write in advance, c/o Mr. Edward Kline at the above address. The journal Khronika zashchity pray v SSSR lists most new acquisitions of the archive.
