For example, there are letters from Russian officials or engineers to the Edison Electric Light Co. (New York), inquiring about establishing lighting systems and the costs of certain manufactured items, 1 letter each in 1883, 1885, 1888, and 1890. 10 letters in 1890 and 1 in 1894 are from Julius H. Block, a Moscow importer of machinery and hardware, telling of phonograph demonstrations he had given and recommending ways to market phonographs. Edison replied in 1 note to Block, 1894.
