The department is also in charge of a completely unarranged, uncatalogued, and stored collection of biographical data sheets for prominent Soviet citizens, gathered by the Munich Institute for the Study of the USSR (derived solely from published sources). Contains ca. 50 boxes (?), with information on perhaps 750,000 Soviet personalities (according to the Library of Congress). The material is currently unavailable to researchers and inquiries cannot be answered.
