• A. A. Friesen (1885-1948)

  Papers, 1919–48, 9 boxes, Businessman. Includes information on Mennonites who left Russia for Canada.

• Abraham Warkentin (1885-1947)

  Papers, 1927–43, ca. 5 ft. Educator in Russia and minister in Germany and the U.S. He taught in the village of Alexanderwohl, Russia, 1904–12; left Russia in 1912 for Germany, where he was ordained a minister in 1920. Correspondence, a file on "Who's Who Among Mennonites," and other materials. (NUCMC 62–3609)

• Books and Documents Pertaining to Anabaptists-Mennonites the World Over, Including Russia

  Ca. 750 books plus manuscripts. Documents on Russia concern famines and relief, 1920–24, and the second wave of Mennonite migration in 1924–30 (the first came in 1874–85). Also, letters, diaries, oral history interviews, photographs, and maps/charts about the Mennonites in Russia, 1790 to the present. 1 M.A. thesis and some Ph.D. dissertations are on religious and church groups in Russia. Among the rare published materials are magazines published in Russia (e.g., Unser Blatt, 1925–28). Inquire about access restrictions. Unpublished register.

• Christian Emmanuel Krehbiel (1869-1948)

  Papers, 1893–1947, 7 ft. Mennonite pastor. He was engaged in relief work in Russia from March 1922 to March 1923. He kept a diary during this time and also wrote many letters to his wife and children. (NUCMC 61–199)

• Cornelius Jansen (1822-1894)

  Papers, 1848–1918, 5 ft. Prussian consul and grain merchant in Berdyansk, Russia. Correspondence and diaries reflect his role in promoting Mennonite migration from Russia to America, for which activity he was expelled from the empire, 1873. Also, business records, pictures, a book manuscript, and clippings. (NUCMC 73–150)

• David Peters (1877-1956)

  Papers, 1949–56, 1 box. Mayor of a Russian village. Left Russia toward the end of World War II, spent some years in Germany as a refugee, and came to America in 1949, settling in Kansas soon thereafter. Correspondence, memoirs, and an autobiography cover his life in Russia and experiences as a refugee. There are also maps of Russian Mennonite villages. (NUCMC 62–4476)

• Dietrich Gaeddert (1837-1900)

  Papers, 1857–1903, 2.25 ft. Minister in the Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in Russia, 1867–74. He led a group of Mennonite emigrants from Russia to near Inman, Kansas, in 1874, establishing the Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church at that time. Includes his diaries for 1857–65 and 1879–1900. • Dietrich Neufeldt (1886-1958)

  Papers, 1912–57, 8 boxes. Writer and teacher. (Pseudonyms: D, Navall and Dirk Gora). Includes primarily writings about the Revolution and the activities of roving bandits such as N. Makhno. Also, information on the movement of Mennonites from Russia to Canada.

• Mennonite Board of Guardians

  Records, 1873–80, 1 box. Immigrant aid committee for Eastern European Mennonites, operating out of Summerfield, Illinois. Correspondence, contracts, and lists of immigrants. The group comprised Christian Krehbiel, David Goerz, John F. Funk, and Bernhard Warkentin. Many of the immigrants were from Russia. (NUCMC 62–4478)

• P. J. Wiens (1877-1945)

  Papers, 1904–43, 3.3 ft. Mennonite missionary. He traveled to Russia in 1906. (NUCMC 61–204)

• Peter Braun (1880-1933)

  Correspondence, 1922–33, ca. 80 items. Teacher. Material on the movement of Mennonites from Russia to Canada.

• Peter C. Hiebert (1878-1963)

  Papers, 1914–63, 52 boxes. Chairman of the Mennonite Central Committee. One of several Americans who went to Russia to administer relief in the years 1921–23. (NUCMC 74–456)

• Peter Herman Unruh (1881-1943)
