This repository, whose archives are in the process of being organized and catalogued, contains the papers of Albert Wentworth Palmer (1879–1954), a professor at and president of the Chicago Theological Seminary, who in 1919 was appointed special secretary of the YMCA to work with American troops in Siberia. 1 of his diaries, 1919, contains an account of his stay in Siberia and includes descriptions of Vladivostok, of American troops in Siberia, and of Russian life and mores. There is also a scrapbook, 1919, containing interesting photos of Vladivostok, of troops of various nationalities, and of a soldier standing in front of a Russian submarine. Part of the diary and some of the photos have been published in Alvin F. Brichtbill, Albert W. Palmer, A Life Extended, edited by Margaret Palmer Taylor (Athens, Ohio, 1968).
