In division 16 of the Council's records, "Foreign Shipbuilding and Shipping," there are a number of items related to the Soviet Union. Among the holdings are materials on the following subjects: 16.002—Soviet maritime strategy, done by the Carrico-Center for Strategic Studies, 1967; 16.013—Soviet ships on order vs. U.S., 1962–72; 16.020—expansion of Soviet merchant marine into U.S. maritime trades, 1977; 16.021—Soviet oceans development, a Senate report, October 1976; 16.024—Soviet maritime activities in liner trades of the U.S., a staff report by the Federal Maritime Commission, October 1977; and 16.025—facts about the Soviet liner fleet and its effect on U.S. oceanborne trade, 1977. The Council maintains an unpublished list of these holdings.
